Colne Childrens Centre

Babies and children of all ages are benefiting from a superb new multi sensory room designed and installed by Opus Pro Audio at Caine Children's Centre. The centre opened in 2006 and is a base for various services aimed at supporting children and families.
The Children's Centre programme aims to improve children's life Opportunities through access to health, childcare, family support and Education services. The staff at the centre work in partnership with a wide range of partner agencies to ensure families receive all the necessary help and support they need whilst their children are young.

In order to enhance the facilities provided by the centre a multi-sensory room was installed in 2009. The room, although small, needed to be as versatile as possible. "VVe have a wide range of children and families and also other agencies who use the room so we needed a room that was adaptable to suit individual needs." says centre Manager Elsie Brown. "It was important to create a calming serene atmosphere where people could relax and enjoy time with their children."

The room is freely available for families in the area to come and use - they just have to call the centre and book themselves a session. It is particularly useful for children with additional needs and the centre has had great feedback from a range of parents and professionals who have brought children in to enjoy the experience.

Opus installed a wide range of multi sensory equipment including a bubble tube, an individually designed twinkling ceiling, soft play fibre optic tunnel, variable lighting, mirrored walls, soft flooring, Palefto wall and music system. "The room has been a great success with all who used it and continues to be one of the most popular activities at our Centre" says Elsie.
